The CVC division was started in 2021 and has to date made 14 investments across AECO sector. We are stage agnostic and our portfolio spans across the US, UK, Europe and APAC. 

 

As we continue to expand our presence and influence in the AECO startup ecosystem, we are seeking a talented Venture Analyst to join our Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) team. We are a small team and see the role integral to achieving our stated objective of supporting innovation in the AECO sector.

 

 

Role Overview:

 

The Venture Analyst will support the CVC team in identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities in high-potential startups. The role involves a blend of strategic thinking, market research, financial analysis, and relationship-building. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in venture capital and exposure to corporate innovation.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

Deal Sourcing & Screening

 

  • Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, incubators, accelerators, and VC funds.
  • Track and source deal flow through networking, events, and platforms like PitchBook, and Tracxn.
  • Screen potential investment opportunities, analyzing product-market fit, team strength, and scalability.

 

 

Internal CRM Management: 

 

  • Help manage and maintain internal CRM system including accurate and up-to-date startup information is captured within the system.

 

 

Portfolio Reporting

 

  • Assist in preparing periodic portfolio performance reports for executive leadership team
  • Help manage internal portfolio dashboard including updating the system with key financials and metrics on a quarterly basis.

 

 

Due Diligence

 

  • Assist with startup diligence including assessing business models, market fit, technology, scalability, team, and financials.
  • Summarize findings into investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or a startup environment.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in excel and power point presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Passion for emerging technologies and an entrepreneurial mindset.

 

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of AECO industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools like PitchBook, Tracxn, or similar databases.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
