About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d) will join Nemetschek Group’s growing global Legal & Compliance function in Munich, working across an international matrix organization in jurisdictions where team members are or will be based (e.g., Germany, US, Hungary, India) and help enabling Nemetschek's and our brand's business needs. You will act as a trusted advisor on GDPR, AI-related legal assessments, digital business models, and vendor agreement legal review, while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements and support in shaping the digitalization, standardization, and legal processes across the Group. This role reports to the Senior VP, Group General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer and needs to be based in Munich, where the Nemetschek HQ is located.
What will your responsibilities look like?
- Provide strategic legal advice to specialist departments and senior management of Nemetschek SE and, where required, its subsidiaries, with a focus on contract law, corporate law, trademark law, software licensing, warranty, liability, AI-related legal matters, and privacy/data protection requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate internal and external contracts and legal documents at national and international level in German and English, including intercompany agreements, software and service vendor contracts, SAM ELA, NDAs, LOIs, DPAs, and other documentation relating to digital business models, AI-enabled solutions, and data protection/privacy compliance.
- Act as a trusted legal partner and key interface to the Compliance department, contributing to the development of policies, guidelines, and training programs, including in relation to AI governance, privacy, and digital compliance topics.
- Proactively support and lead contract and settlement negotiations, as well as legal and cross-functional projects at national and international level, applying strong project management skills and supporting digitalization and transformation initiatives where relevant.
- Assess individual legal matters in additional areas as required, including employment law, data protection/privacy, and other legal issues arising from digitalization and the use of AI.
- Prepare clear legal analyses, risk assessments, and pragmatic, business-oriented recommendations for stakeholders.
- Manage and coordinate external law firms, counsel, and service providers, ensuring efficient delivery, budget awareness, and effective project management.
What do we expect from you?
- Fully qualified lawyer with a completed law degree and one or two state examinations.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in an international environment, gained in a law firm or in-house legal department, with strong expertise in contract and corporate law and sound familiarity with legal issues relating to digitalization, AI, and privacy/data protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, manage stakeholders confidently, and contribute successfully in cross-functional and project-based environments.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, effectively manage multiple priorities, and support digitalization initiatives and cross-functional project management activities in a structured and results-oriented manner.
- Strong analytical and conceptual capabilities, combined with excellent organizational skills and a pragmatic, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset, including the ability to support digitalization initiatives and manage complex matters efficiently.
- A hands-on generalist approach and strong enthusiasm for engaging with new legal topics, including AI, digitalization, and related regulatory developments.
