Lead AI Software Architect (m/f/d)

We are seeking a Lead AI Cloud Architect, who will be responsible for defining and driving end-to-end architectures on GCP for AI-powered solutions at group. This role focuses on cross-product AI services that can be consumed by multiple teams and products. The role will be part of the AI Hub R&D and report directly to the head of AI R&D.

Key Responsibilities:

This role balances hands-on development with an important part of cross-functional coordination, requiring skills across technical and business domains. The architect will work in very close partnership with the AI HUB Product Owner to align architectural decisions with product strategy, value, and roadmap priorities. He/She will also work closely with internal/external teams and European stakeholders, requiring some travel each quarter for alignments with stakeholders and workshops.

More in detail, for the technical part:

• Design and evolve a cloud-native software architectures on GCP using managed services (e.g., Cloud Run/GKE, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI) and custom services; focus on LLM assistant-like capabilities.
• Own the target end-to-end architecture for production-grade AI solutions. (data, ML, application, integration, security), covering batch and real-time workloads from source systems to end-user features, in close collaboration with the Production Lead.
• Work closely with the AI HUB Product Owner to plan and prioritize the architectures needed to support roadmap items, ensuring tight alignment between business outcomes, product vision, and technical direction from AI HUB R&D.
• Close collaboration with Nemetschek Brands, to define and maintain shared AI platforms, services, and reference implementations that can be reused across the group, maximizing consistency, interoperability, and time-to-market.
• Establish and promote architectural standards, patterns, and guardrails for AI (APIs, event-driven integration, LLMOps/ML Ops, governance) and ensure they are adopted by consuming teams.
• Ensure that non-functional requirements (scalability, availability, security, observability, cost efficiency) are embedded into solutions from the outset.
• Partner with security, compliance, and IT to design secure, compliant AI architectures, including IAM, network design, data protection, and tenant or workspace isolation.
• Evaluate and introduce new GCP and AI capabilities, driving P.o.C. and evolving them into robust platform components and reference architectures.
• Lead and participate in architecture reviews, providing clear guidance to engineering and data science teams, balancing innovation with constraints.
• Mentor other architects and senior engineers, fostering a strong architecture culture within the AI HUB and across stakeholder teams.

Qualifications:

• Relevant study in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Strong experience in Software development for Cloud
• Extensive experience as a solution/platform/enterprise architect with proven delivery of cloud-native solutions (including AI/ML), in prod environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design end-to-end architectures spanning data, ML, and user-facing applications (microservices, APIs, event-driven systems).
• Strong understanding of cloud security, data protection, and governance (e.g. identity, encryption, auditability, and regulatory considerations.).
• Deep hands-on experience with GCP, including designing solutions with core services such as the one mentioned above.
• Proven track record collaborating with product management, ideally in a setup where architecture and product jointly drive a platform or capability roadmap.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bonus: experience in AEC/O, design, construction, building operations, or related domains, and familiarity with AI use cases in these areas.
