About this Role
The Director IT Business Partner (m/f/d) leads the IT Business Partner & Demand Management team, acting as the primary interface between business stakeholders and IT. This role ensures that business needs are translated into IT initiatives that deliver tangible value, while driving transparency, prioritization, and agile transformation across the portfolio. This is a global role, leading several individual contributors, and reports into the Group CIO. It can be based anywhere in Germany (preferably in Munich, where the Nemetschek HQ is located.).
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop IT Business Partners & Demand Managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the registration, prioritization, and processing of all business demands, ensuring a single-entry gate and transparent workflow.
- Set and communicate the vision for demand management, aligning team objectives with organizational strategy.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for IT delivery issues and business engagement challenges.
Portfolio & Demand Oversight
- Host strategic portfolio sessions with key stakeholders to ensure a clear project prioritization is available
- Ensure that all demands are processed through a standardized demand management workflow, maintaining transparency of added value for all stakeholders.
- Act as the final quality gate for moving epics on the Portfolio Board, with authority to approve or revert items as needed.
- Oversee the formulation and prioritization of epics in the “New/Funnel” Portfolio Backlog, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Guide to the calculation of WSJF (Weighted Shortest Job First) with IT Owners, ensuring prioritization reflects business impact and resource optimization.
Agile Transformation & Process Excellence
- Champion the agile transformation of the IT Business Partner & Demand Management function, supporting agile program implementation and mindset adoption.
- Ensure solutions deliver measurable business value by collaborating with Customers, Business Owners, and Solution Management to understand market forces and strategic objectives.
- Oversee the sorting of Portfolio Board items by economic value and effort, supported by the Solution Train Engineer, to achieve optimal goals and vision.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Ensure requirements are clearly understood by agile teams, facilitating effective translation of business needs into IT deliverables.
- Lead portfolio reviews, present the Portfolio Roadmap, and ensure program backlog elements are reflected in team product backlogs.
- Oversee the development of customer-oriented support concepts and ensure non-functional requirements (NFRs) are met.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to implement best practices across the team and portfolio.
- Continuously improve collaboration and processes between functions, ensuring optimized outcome.
- Monitor demand trends, forecast performance, and report regularly to executive leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field; relevant certifications (ITIL, PMP) are a plus.
- Proven leadership experience in IT demand planning, portfolio management, or related fields.
- Strong strategic thinking, transformation management, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Deep understanding of ITIL, project management methodologies, and business process alignment.
- Advanced proficiency in demand and capacity planning tools (e.g. JIRA, Excel).
- Project Management experience in waterfall and agile methods.
- Fluent in English and German.
