At Bluebeam, we empower people to advance the way the world is built. We create smart software solutions that make construction sites more efficient, connected, and safe and improve the lives of design and construction professionals everywhere.

The Staff Software Engineer, Revu is a technical leader who architects, develops, and evolves the systems that power the Revu desktop application and its connected cloud capabilities. The role balances hands-on expertise in Windows desktop development—particularly C#, .NET, and WPF—with deep capability in cloud-native backend systems on AWS, with an immediate emphasis on backend services and platform foundations written in Golang and C#. Working across product, design, quality, architecture, security, DevOps, and engineering teams, this engineer translates ambiguous customer and business needs into secure, scalable, resilient, and maintainable solutions. The Staff Engineer raises the technical bar through strong architectural judgment, delivery leadership, operational ownership, and the development of other engineers.

About the Role:

  • Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of complex end-to-end product capabilities spanning the Revu Windows desktop application and AWS-hosted backend services; make pragmatic technical decisions that balance customer value, reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and delivery timelines.
  • Own and advance backend and platform work with an immediate focus on scalable, highly available services and APIs using Golang and C#/.NET; design cloud-native AWS solutions using appropriate data stores, messaging, observability, security controls, and operational practices.
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-team and multi-quarter initiatives by defining target architecture, identifying risks and dependencies, breaking ambiguous work into viable milestones, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution through completion.
  • Contribute hands-on production-quality code across the stack, including Windows desktop components in C#/.NET and WPF as well as backend services; establish clear interfaces and integration patterns between client and service layers.
  • Improve the engineering system through high-quality design reviews, code reviews, technical documentation, test strategy, CI/CD practices, Infrastructure as Code, and effective use of engineering and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Establish operational excellence by designing for observability, resilience, recoverability, and secure operation; investigate and resolve complex production issues, participate in on-call support as needed, and lead root-cause analysis and durable corrective actions.
  • Mentor engineers and multiply team effectiveness through coaching, pairing, technical feedback, knowledge sharing, and stewardship of engineering standards; serve as a trusted technical resource for complex domains and code bases.
  • Partner with Product Management, Design, QA, Architecture, InfoSec, DevOps, and customer-facing stakeholders to refine loosely defined requirements into demonstrable, customer-centered solutions that advance the Revu product vision.

About You:

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial experience delivering and operating production software systems.
  • Meaningful experience developing Windows applications in C#/.NET, including the ability to understand, extend, and integrate desktop application capabilities.
  •  Experience with WPF is required; familiarity with WinForms is beneficial.
  •  Deep, recent experience designing and building highly available backend services and cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Strong, recent development experience in Golang and C#/.NET, with the ability to work effectively across multiple languages, code bases, and technology domains.
  • Solid understanding of microservice architecture, API design, containerization, container orchestration, and the practical tradeoffs involved in designing reliable distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of relational SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL or equivalent, and NoSQL data stores such as Amazon DynamoDB or MongoDB; ability to select data models and persistence strategies appropriate to system needs.
  • Experience with automated CI/CD and modern software delivery practices, including testing at multiple levels, release automation, monitoring, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or similar tooling.
  • Ability to define technical designs, test strategies, service-level expectations, and operational readiness criteria for complex systems.
  • Experience working with complex product technologies such as PDF processing, image processing, 3D rendering, AI-enabled capabilities, or other performance-sensitive domains is valuable.

Soft Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated technical leadership on large, cross-functional, or multi-year initiatives, including the ability to turn broad goals into well-sequenced technical plans and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, raise engineering quality, build alignment without formal authority, and help teams make effective decisions under ambiguity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate architecture, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong customer empathy and product judgment, with a consistent focus on creating reliable, intuitive experiences for design and construction professionals.
  • A collaborative, results-oriented, organized mindset; intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn, challenge assumptions constructively, and expand technical breadth.
