The Principal DevOps Engineer leads the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices to support scalable, secure, and reliable systems. The role focuses on integrating AI capabilities into cloud environments, enabling efficient deployment pipelines, system performance and operational resilience in support of business objectives.
About the Role:
- Work across the product and engineering organization to build the future strategy at Bluebeam.
- Develop customized solutions within the AWS platform that favor best-practices and an automation-first mindset
- Collaborate with development and product teams to design, code, and implement applications and integrations for Bluebeam services.
- Create timelines and development goals, collaborating with team members to set mindful objectives and milestones.
- Troubleshoot and analyze issues and develop effective solutions for highly complex problems.
- Write documentation and provide technical training across multiple engineering teams.
- Maintain the security and integrity of all code and application software, ensuring that all systems meet security standards.
- Embrace new technology innovations and tools, investigating vendor offerings and incorporating improved solutions to fill ecosystem gaps.
- Work collaboratively to develop creative and custom solutions across Bluebeam systems and AWS environments.
- Assist in the development of standardized reporting and analytics tools to ensure reliable service forecasting for teams and cost/monthly spend for leadership stakeholders
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including internal team members, engineering stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Manage multiple priorities, balance complex projects, and chart deadlines efficiently
About You:
- 12+ Years with hands-on experience in DevOps, architect or similar role.
- 2+ years' experience working with AI and generative AI technologies.
- 2+ years as a principal or comparable engineering type role
- 8-10 years’ experience with deployment technologies and automation (configuration management and build tools) such as Jenkins (preferred), bamboo, Ansible, Puppet.
- 8-10 years’ experience with containerization such as Kubernetes or EKS.
- 5 years’ experience with serverless technologies (primarily Lambda)
- 5+ years’ experience with IAC technologies such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Expert-level proficiency with the AWS cloud platform and associated services.
- Familiarity with other public cloud providers is a plus.
- Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation
- Deep expertise in writing CI/CD pipelines to deploy infrastructure and service resources
- Expert-Level knowledge with containerization and modern orchestration tools (EKS, Kubernetes, Docker). With the ability to write solutions as code.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools in a production ecosystem (Dynatrace, Grafana, etc.)
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible and Chef.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and working in a complex product development organization
- Proficiency with scripting and programming languages, such as Python, Bash, etc.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and standards to maintain reliable systems and meet audit expectations

Base pay offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations. Base pay is one part of Bluebeam’s Total Rewards program, which seeks to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable commission plan, while most non-sales position are eligible for a bonus under the terms of an applicable bonus plan. The base pay range for this position is: $182,900-$251,225
